Dear Friend,
Thank you for ensuring the women who graduate from free tailoring schools in India receive a treadle sewing machine along with a certificate of completion.
Sixty women just completed their training in June and another sixty women are currently in classes, with three new schools in slum or poor neighborhoods set to start their first classes, enrolling a total of 36 more women.
Each graduate was so excited to complete her training and receive a sewing machine to start her own business.
Boddu lives with her parents and older brother. Her father is a day laborer. She went to school just through the 6th grade. She had to stop her education because her father did not earn enough to pay for her education.
Her favorite item to sew are punjabi tops and she excels in making them. She can sew them quickly, thereby earning more money each day to help support her family.
Thank you for bringing a happy smile to Boddu, providing training and a sewing machine so she can help her family in spite of not completing a formal education.
Blessings,
John Sparks
P.S. One of our photos of a woman and her sewing machine was selected as a semi-finalist for Global Giving's 2016 Photo Contest. Please vote by July 22, 2016 and help provide more women in India with a sewing machine. Vote for our photo today!
