When we decided we wanted to give soft, cuddly teddy bears to orphans, it was almost impulsive in our wide-eyed desire to spread joy as well as love to those who needed it the most. Of course, we began by buying bears and giving them, but very soon, we say the sparkle in the children's eyes and realized we need to give more and bring smiles to more children's eyes and so started our Global Giving campaign.
Little would we know when we got our first donation on May 27, 2015, that today there would raise over $4000 dollars from 89 different donors and the momentum simply continues. We thank each and every one of you. You made someone smile, someone who really needed to.
Here is a picture of little Ayes (we've changed her name as per GG policy). For this report, we wanted to share her picture because her Mona Lisa smile is there, but what is more in her eyes is determination. Yes, determination. For what, you may ask? To hold on to the bear. Even to try to get Ayes to move the bear up an inch was impossible because she simply would not let anyone touch her bear once it was hers. She was determined to keep and love the bear on her own terms. Seeing how quickly and strongly she attached to the bear really reminded us that these bears are not just something to love, but sometimes an actual lifelife for someone who has no one to love.
During this holiday season, as we give one another gifts and good cheer and certainly indulge in delicious food and dessert, please consider doing one act of kindness daily. We would love it if every day til the end of the year, you donate one teddy for $10! You'll not just be giving a gift; you may be giving a lifeline to a little one alone in the world.
Happy Holidays!!!
