Give Drinking Water to Neglected Region in Nigeria

Overview

Our GlobalGiving project, Give Drinking Water to Neglected Region in Nigeria, addresses the urgent need for clean and drinkable water in underserved communities. Access to clean water is vital for health, yet many regions still depend on unsafe sources. To tackle water scarcity and reduce waterborne diseases, the first phase of this project will install four manual pump boreholes in villages in desperate need of clean water. The project will primarily benefit children, women, the elderly, and even animals burdened by water-fetching labor.

Recent Achievements

While we are still raising funds to implement this specific project, we are pleased to share the success of a similar initiative. Recently, a manual pump borehole was installed in the Iya Odiong community of Akwa Ibom State. This was made possible through funding from a generous foundation.

Before this intervention, residents relied on salty and undrinkable water that posed health risks and hindered daily activities. The new borehole now provides clean, drinkable water, significantly improving life in the community.

Impact of the Borehole

• Access to Clean Water: Over 500 residents now have access to safe, drinkable water.
• Improved Health: The risk of waterborne diseases has been significantly reduced.
• Community Empowerment: The project has sparked a sense of hope and possibility in the community, showing what can be achieved through collaboration.

Looking Ahead
With the donations already received through GlobalGiving, we hope to start this project and extend interventions to other neglected regions in Nigeria, bringing clean water to even more communities in need, even the most forgotten communities.
