Project Overview:
The project titled "Give Life with Your Eid-al-Adha Donations" is an initiative by LOSEV aimed at providing essential food supplies, particularly protein-rich meat products, to children undergoing leukemia treatment. By facilitating Kurban donations, LOSEV ensures that these children and their families, many of whom live below the poverty line, receive fresh meat for up to 12 months, a critical component in their recovery process.
Financial Goals and Progress:
The project aims to raise a total of $100,000 to support children with leukemia. As of now, $94,363 remains to be raised, with the support of 8 donors. While the project currently has no monthly donors, one fundraiser is actively working towards this target.
Challenge:
Leukemia treatment requires a diet rich in protein, particularly red meat, to boost the body’s ability to fight cancer. Unfortunately, 87% of families registered with LOSEV earn minimum wage or less, making it impossible for them to afford this essential component of treatment. The lack of protein intake significantly hampers the treatment process and recovery for children.
Solution:
For over 21 years, LOSEV has supported children with leukemia through sacrifices by proxy. These donations are converted into fresh meat and distributed in vacuum-sealed packages to ensure safe and long-term use by families. The project reaches more than 90,000 registered families, delivering meat regularly based on need assessments, providing continuous nutrition support throughout the year.
Long-Term Impact:
A protein-rich diet, personalized care, and treatment are vital for successful leukemia recovery. In the 1990s, leukemia survival rates were approximately 20%. Today, due to comprehensive care at LOSEV's LOSANTE Hospital, the treatment success rate has surged to 94%, thanks to innovations in personalized treatments and consistent nutrition support from donations.
The success of this project not only provides immediate relief to families in need but also significantly improves the chances of recovery for children fighting leukemia.
