Give street children in Burundi a future

‘’My name is Billy, and I'm twenty years old. I've been under the care of New Generation for twelve years. I had little to no hope before joining New Generation. Most days, my circumstances left me saddened and without hope for the future. There were many basic things I couldn't afford to buy. My life had no meaning or foundation until I joined New Generation.

Now that I have finished secondary school, I feel I've completed a big step in my life. Going to school was always on my mind, and I always wondered how I would manage to do it. I wanted to be educated and become the man I always wanted to be. I am also hopeful for my future and feel motivated. I want to pursue finance and accounting at university. I want to be an expert in the field. New Generation brought a positive change into my life. I initially came across people who were willing to help, but I eventually realized that they had selfish motives. However, when I met New Generation, the first thing that was restored was hope. They (the New Generation team) taught me about God and values that would help me through life. New Generation has helped me build strong pillars for my life. I see myself having a beautiful family, being a good husband and a father.Those who have had the opportunity to grow under the care of New Generation, those that I call my brothers and sisters, share the same values. One of the most important values to me is integrity.

If someone had asked a five-year-old me where I would see myself at 20, I would have had no answer. I would still be wondering if I would spend my life on the streets, or what I would do without an education. Today, I have finished secondary school and am about to start university. If one walks with integrity, one can see real changes, just as I get to experience daily’’.
