Update on the progress report on

By Samuel Akaraonye | Founder/CEO

At the Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation (SOHF), we remain dedicated to providing shelter, care, and hope to the most vulnerable—especially those experiencing homelessness and extreme poverty in Nigeria.

Unfortunately, this quarter, we did not receive any donations for this project. While this poses a major challenge, our determination remains strong. The need for emergency shelter, food, and rehabilitation support continues to grow, and we are actively seeking partners and donors to help us turn this vision into reality.

2. The Growing Crisis: Why This Project Matters

Nigeria’s economic challenges, insecurity, and rising cost of living have drastically increased homelessness, leaving many individuals without food, shelter, or medical care. Among the most affected are:

Elderly individuals, widows, and orphans with no support.

Displaced families forced out of their homes due to conflict.

Unemployed youth and struggling urban poor left without shelter.

Without urgent intervention, these individuals remain at risk of hunger, illness, exploitation, and violence.

3. Challenges We Are Facing

Despite our commitment to social impact and humanitarian relief, we have been unable to launch this project due to:

A. Lack of Financial Resources

With no donations received this quarter, we cannot provide shelter, food, or medical care to those in need.

Urgent funding is required for temporary housing, food supplies, and basic healthcare services.

B. Inflation & Economic Hardship

The rising cost of essential goods has made it increasingly difficult to procure shelter materials, food, and medical aid.

Many local donors and partners are also struggling with economic constraints, reducing available funding.

C. Insecurity & Increased Displacement

Ongoing conflicts and economic struggles continue to increase homelessness rates, making the situation even more urgent.

4. Heartbreaking Discovery During Our Routine Check

During our routine community outreach, we came across a widow with no children, who is in desperate need of shelter. She has no home, no family to support her, and no means to survive.

It was heartbreaking to witness her suffering and vulnerability, but due to financial constraints and the rising cost of living, we were unable to offer immediate assistance.

We promised her that as soon as we secure support, we will return to help her and find a lasting solution to her housing crisis. But we cannot do this alone.

5. Our Commitment to Impact

Despite these challenges, we remain committed to providing:
Temporary and permanent shelter solutions for homeless individuals.
Food, healthcare, and psychosocial support for displaced persons.
Vocational training and empowerment programs to help beneficiaries regain independence.
Advocacy and strategic partnerships to scale up interventions and reach more people.

We firmly believe that no human being should live without shelter, dignity, and hope.

6. How You Can Help

This widow, and many others like her, need urgent help. With your support, we can provide:
Emergency shelter and food assistance to those in dire conditions.
Medical and psychological support to the most vulnerable.
Long-term reintegration programs to help them rebuild their lives.

7. Conclusion

While this quarter has been challenging due to lack of funds, we refuse to abandon those who depend on us. The widow we met, and many others like her, deserve a safe place to call home.

We are counting on your generosity and kindness to help us fulfill our promise to her and the many others in desperate need. Together, we can restore dignity, provide shelter, and bring hope to those experiencing homelessness in Nigeria.

Let’s build a future where no one is left without a home, no one is left behind.

With gratitude,
Samuel Akaraonye
