Project Report
Project Title: Give Succor & Refuge to 150 Homeless Poor in Nigeria (54364)
Total Funds Received: $355
Exceptional Fund from GlobalGiving: $200
Support from Social Impact Initiative (SOHF – Sector-Agnostic Hybrid Organization): $155
Project Overview
Across Nigeria, homelessness is not just a condition—it is a humanitarian crisis. Worsened by insecurity, economic hardship, forced displacement, and failed housing systems, countless citizens have been stripped of basic human dignity. The Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation (SOHF) launched this intervention to restore hope, offer refuge, and provide life-saving support to at least 150 homeless, displaced, and severely vulnerable persons.
Fund Utilization Breakdown
With humility and prudence, the $355 received was distributed as follows:
Temporary Shelter Support (tarpaulins, mats, roofing sheets, wood planks): $140
Emergency Food Support (rice, beans, oil, garri, and clean water): $105
Basic Hygiene Kits (soap, sanitary towels, toothpaste, washing buckets): $60
Logistics, Mobilization & Volunteer Support: $30
Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation: $20
Lives Touched
Thanks to your compassion and partnership, we were able to:
Provide emergency shelter and food for 40 widows and elderly individuals
Offer safety and warmth to 65 children living on the streets
Support 45 vulnerable and homeless adults with dignity packs and medical referrals
"We had nothing—not even a wrapper to sleep on. Your support gave us strength. I saw humanity again.”
— Blessing, 42, Homeless Mother in Nigeria
Heartfelt Appreciation to GlobalGiving
We extend our deepest and most heartfelt appreciation to GlobalGiving for the exceptional fund support that ignited this project.
Over the past three years, our foundation has struggled with severe financial hardship, stemming from harsh federal government economic reforms and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) monetary policies. These have pauperized millions and made local fundraising nearly impossible.
In the midst of this adversity, GlobalGiving stood by us—like a beacon in a storm.
Your exceptional support did not only help us reach the homeless—it reaffirmed our belief in global solidarity and reminded us that we are not alone.
Because of you:
We fed the hungry
We sheltered the vulnerable
We rekindled lost hope
From all of us at SOHF, and from the hearts you touched, thank you for choosing humanity. Your impact is lasting.
Looking Ahead: Our Vision & Prospects
We are committed to scaling this intervention and reaching more displaced Nigerians. Our next steps include:
Launching a Community-Based Transitional Shelter Hub
Introducing a “Homeless-to-Hope” Rehabilitation Pathway (skills training + psychosocial care)
Strengthening advocacy for inclusive housing policies and emergency social protection
Expanding Urban Homeless Outreach Campaigns across major cities in Nigeria
Closing Note
This report is more than an update—it is a proof of impact, a story of hope, and a tribute to solidarity.
We are grateful to all our supporters, especially GlobalGiving, for enabling us to carry out our mission even in the darkest times.
Together, we will build a Nigeria where no one sleeps hungry, and no one sleeps outside.
With deep gratitude,
Samuel Akaraonye
