'We saw her suffer yet smile'

By Kym Kitching | Head of Fundraising

Baby Daisy

Bereaved heart mum, Emma, bravely shared her daughter, Daisy's story with ITV News a few weeks ago. Daisy's heart condition was detected after a routine pulse oximetry test, and Emma believes this was the reason they were able to spend 12 weeks with their baby before she tragically passed away.

Every year 1,000 babies leave hospital with their heart defect undetected, potentially putting their lives in grave danger.

Emma has become a tireless advocate of mandatory pulse oximetry screening for newborns. You can watch the ITV feature, which includes an interview with our CEO, here: https://www.itv.com/news/anglia/2024-04-06/we-saw-her-suffer-yet-smile-mum-calls-for-heart-tests-after-babys-death

Babies born with serious heart problems are at significant risk of disability or even death if not diagnosed before they fall into the early stages of heart failure. Since 2017, Tiny Tickers has placed over 600 pulse oximetry machines in UK maternity units.

We won't stop until every baby receives the test that could help save their life.
