Sharing Light - Maui

By Ron zeltzer | COO

Eight months have passed since the devastating wildfire swept through Lahaina. The once-charred hills are now showing signs of life, a testament to nature’s resilience and the community’s determination to rebuild. SmartAID has been an humble part in this transformation.

The organization’s solar power units, initially a temporary solution, have become fixtures in the landscape. They stand as symbols of progress, their panels absorbing sunlight and converting it into a lifeline for the community. Homes that were once dark now buzz with the sound of refrigerators and the soft whir of fans, thanks to the sustainable energy provided.

The volunteers, who arrived when the ashes were still warm, have become part of the Lahaina family.

Their initial efforts to provide immediate aid have evolved into long-term support, helping to weave the fabric of the community back together.

They’ve listened to stories of loss and shared in the collective grief, but more importantly, they’ve contributed to the narrative of recovery and hope.

The solar panels do more than just power homes; they empower lives, providing the means for economic recovery and personal growth.

As Lahaina looks to the future, the impact of SmartAID remains indelible. The organization has not only helped to bring back light to a community shrouded in darkness but has also ignited a spark of innovation and self-sufficiency.

The people of Lahaina are not just survivors of a wildfire; they are pioneers of a new dawn, embracing sustainability and resilience as their guiding stars.
