We wish you could seen the look on little Koa’s face the first time he flipped a switch and he bedroom lit up.
That glow wasn’t just from the bulb—it was pure joy, like he’d discovered magic.
His new home, built from the ashes of Lahaina, now usss clean energy thanks to SmartAID team, bringing much more than power to families like theirs. It’s bringing hope, and a chance to feel whole again.
Walking through the neighborhood, you can see kids out on living room floors, reading books under bright lights powered by solar panels.
Listening to parents as they describe what it means to plug in a fridge and know their food won’t spoil. “We lost everything,” she said, her voice catching. “But now I can keep food fresh, cook dinner, and sit with my girls to watch their favorite show. It’s like we’re a family again, not just survivors.” Says Koa’s mom - knowing something as simple as a solar battery could mean so much.
SmartAID’s work here feels personal, like we’re not just installing panels but stitching love back into these homes.
Take Nia, who is obsessed with gaming. The night they got internet hooked up, powered by the new solar system. “Turned out, she was just playing online with her friends for the first time in years.”.
Every home SmartAID touches feels alive now.
What gets us most is how SmartAID’s team is doing this with heart. We’re hiring local folks to put up the panels and maintain the systems, giving people, who lost their job in the fire, a way to provide their his family while helping his neighbours. That’s what makes this feel like more than charity—it’s community, it’s aloha.
