By IsraAID Staff | IsraAID Uganda
In 2016, IsraAID's work in Uganda expanded with a clear mission: to help communities access safe water and make sure it keeps flowing. Today, 10 years later, we’re proud of what has been built — and committed to what comes next.
FROM BOREHOLES TO LASTING SYSTEMS
Across northern and southern Uganda, our teams are carrying out groundwater studies, drilling new boreholes in both refugee and host communities, and continuously monitoring existing water sources to strengthen long-term access.
But durable water systems are built on more than infrastructure. They rely on people.
A GENERATION OF WATER EXPERTS
Over the past decade, in partnership with BGC Engineering and Gulu University, IsraAID has trained over 138 young people affected by civil unrest in borehole drilling, repair, groundwater exploration, and water quality testing. Many graduates have gone on to become skilled community drillers, pump mechanics, and entrepreneurs — establishing water supply enterprises that continue to expand access to safe water in their communities.
We are also providing specialized groundwater equipment — ensuring that the knowledge and tools stay in the hands of the communities who need them. This is what long-term water security looks like: not just infrastructure, but independence.
Your support helps IsraAID drill further, reach more communities, and build the local expertise that last a lifetime. Thank you for helping us keep the water flowing!
