Dear friends and running finatics!
In Athens, for the third year in a row, we organised a 5KM run in Pedion Areos, a large park located in the center of the city and close to our gym. The run was professionally timed and we had a total number of 143 runners competing. Our goal with the event was to run for freedom as well as raise awareness and solidarity for the situation of people on the move which we achieved as we reached a high number of local runners and running groups who would normally not participate in our activities.
It was a good event for positive advocacy, as a lot of people learned about our mission and vision, and it gave us a platform for our voices to be heard. With the outcome of having more locals attending our gym as well as people with disabilities. With the help of MeAllaMatia we are working on improving the accessibility of our gym facilities so that people with disabilities have easier access entering our gym.
The event served as a fundraiser as well, with the goal of raising 8,000€, with your support and of course the support of those running on the day, we raised around 2,000€. Special shoutout to Nargus who joined the Global Run by swimming AND running the circumference of Manhattan- incredible!! Where they raised a total amount of over 3.000€, No we are only 3.000€ away from reaching our goal therefore it's never too late to donate.
We want to give a BIG thank you to those who have donated. Your donations a lot more than you think and for that we greatly appreciate you . If you wish to participate next year please go to our website. Thank you for taking the time to read this report . See you next time with more fun news from YSR.
Kind regards
Ruvi
