Happy new year from SCOEN

By Lucas Akol | Partner Relations Officer

Dear GlobalGivers,

Happy new year! We are now breathing the hopeful air of 2022. You are part of this story and this hope. So many of you gave us new donations in the last few weeks, we are profoundly grateful.

In the fewa months we have been identifying grandmother leaders, providing them with tools and training, and strengthening intergenerational relationships, the project works to improve educational opportunities for children, create inclusive nutrition and health programs, and encourage sustainable development.

We are in a uniquely difficult moment. Covid-19 has changed the personal, family and professional dynamics for all of us across the world. And one of the overlooked impacts of this crisis is violence against women.

Violence against women increases in every crisis. Today, 139 women and girls around the world are killed every day. Home, where officials are urging us to stay, can be the most dangerous place for many. During this time of unprecedented challenges presented by Covid-19, our resolve has only strengthened. So while our staff are currently following the SOPs, they are also hard at work preparing for our next phase of field work to protect the rights and safety of girls.

Your support makes these types of pivots possible in our work, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

With gratitude,

SCOEN Team
