Brief Introduction
Drinking water is a basic human need to which over 50% of the rural population in Pakistan has no access. Availability of water in the country is a growing concern due to several reasons such as rapid population growth, little water resource management, indiscriminate disposal of chemical, human and hazardous wastes and overexploitation of existing sources causing deepening of water tables.
Provision of drinking water was direly needed for the communities living in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). Installation of 03 Water projects (03 Small Hand Pumps) are providing drinking water to the people residing in these areas. The project will help to lessen waterborne diseases in the project area and around. Following are the details regarding Installation of 03 Water Projects funded by the money raised on GlobalGiving.

The followings are the aims, objectives and outcomes of the projects which were executed through the generous donations of individuals on GlobalGiving.

To provide drinking water to communities in water shortage villages of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KPK.
03 drinking water projects have been successfully installed in water shortage areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).
To lessen waterborne diseases in the project area and around. To help improve livelihoods as a consequence of improved health.
Installation of Water Projects has brought smiles on the faces of beneficiaries by contributing in full filling basic drinking water need of community.
To motivate public & private sector agencies and philanthropists to replicate similar projects.
Public & private sector agencies and philanthropists and local communities are motivated to replicate similar projects in affected areas but also will take care of executed projects.
The socio-economic background of the beneficiaries
Majority of the people living in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), have low socio-economic background and they do not have access to basic sustenance needs. General living conditions of the people are poor and literacy rate is very low. The economy of the selected areas is predominantly pastoral and people have been practicing a nomadic lifestyle for centuries.
In rural areas of KPK more than half of the population has no access to clean drinking water. Communities mainly women and children spent most of their time in travelling to fetch drinkable water from distant areas. Children and women walk for hours to get water. The water quality is also unsafe and unhealthy which yields many diseases. In some far-flung areas, communities take water for daily usage and drinking from ponds.
Installation of 03 water projects has provided drinking water to the local communities living in KPK. Children and women do not have to walk for hours to get water and water is now available in these areas.
The main achievement of the project
The project as a whole was a source of fulfilling the basic need of water for local communities living in villages of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). The beneficiaries were assisted in sustaining life in miserable conditions caused due to shortage and unavailability of water.
Majority of them belong to low socio-economic background and were constraint to travel long distance to fetch water to full fill their water needs. Execution of the project was as source of bringing smiles on the faces of the vulnerable families being constrained to live without having basis sustenance needs.
