This initiative is part of Alkhidmat’s nationwide effort to expand clean water accessibility in remote and underserved communities. Through various water projects, Alkhidmat continues to uplift vulnerable families and improve community health.

Story / Update

In the mountainous region of Athmuqam, accessing clean and safe drinking water has long been a challenge. Women and children often had to walk long distances on steep terrain to fetch water from unsafe sources. This not only affected their health but also their education and daily livelihood.

To address this persistent issue, Alkhidmat Foundation implemented a Gravity Flow Water Supply Scheme, using natural slopes to deliver water from an elevated spring directly to community households—without requiring electricity, fuel, or machinery.

The project included:

• Laying durable water pipelines

• Construction of a storage tank

• Community-level water distribution points

With clean water now available at their doorstep, families in Chanjath have experienced immediate relief. Parents no longer worry about waterborne diseases, and children—especially girls—can focus on school rather than water collection.

Community members expressed their deep gratitude for this life-changing project that will continue to benefit them for many years.
