Researching Green Maps

Over the years, a wide variety of research papers have been written about the work of Green Mapmakers, locally and globally. Now we are in the process of assessing each of these thesis papers, dissertations, scholarly presentations and other papers for the benefit of future researchers and for sharing best practices. In order to do this we have started an archive project entitled the Green Map Research Archive.

As part of this process we are reaching out to our Chinese speaking network to ensure that thesis, doctoral and other research papers by or about Green Map projects in China, Taiwan and other Chinese speaking regions are included. “I'm really excited that research papers in Chinese are being included in the archive. I'm curious to see what has been written about the Green Map projects in those regions and what people think about them,” says Li Tang, who is a native Chinese speaker and support staff at Green Map System. So far, we just have one paper presented in China, but this geographic region is where we have the largest gap in the research.

The Research Archive project began in August. The first phase encompassing 25 diverse papers was completed in October. There’s a blog post linked below about the process by our fall intern.

Now we are collecting the rest of the papers, and confirming with the authors that we have characterized them correctly and that we can share the papers online. Our next step is planned for spring. We’ll make them easy to access online, complementing our current page at GreenMap.org/universities where we can share the Research Archive around the world.

Thank you for helping ensure our work continues to impact students and other researchers long into the future!
