Green Rebuild Toolkit December Report

By James King | Events and Communications Coordinator

Hello Friend,

The Black Summer bushfires destroyed 5,900 buildings and homes. 2.9 million people had their homes damaged, threatened, or were temporarily displaced. The Green Rebuild Toolkit is a set of resources developed by Renew to help people rebuild their homes and increase resistance to future climate disasters. Now in its second phase, the Green Rebuild Toolkit is expanding to include profiles of Australia’s most fire-resilient homes.

We are pleased to announce that numerous resilient homes were submitted to Renew's Beyond Bal competition. These homes are currently being assessed by our team, and will be featured in case studies on our Green Rebuild Toolkit website in the future, supporting bushfire impacted communities to build back for resilience.
Renew recently completed our four part Retrofitting for Resilience series, which supported those retrofitting their home for bushfire resilience to understand how to get started, how to protect their homes from embers and radiant heat, and provided information on water and landscaping and energy setups.
The series featured a fantastic range of bushfire designers, architects, landscapers, and researchers. Over 500 people attended the sessions, and approximately 140 questions were asked. YouTube recordings of each webinar will be made available here over the coming weeks. .
We are looking forward to our Beyond Bal reseachers presenting their findings early next year.

Best regards,
The Renew Team
