Greetings all,
I hope the new year has been treating you well so far. For Beeworks, we've gotten off to a great start so far this year. After a lengthy delay due to wildfires last year, the project has commenced in earnest. In early January, Dr. Roberto Greco, our university partner who is implementing the project on-location, visited the community of Guapiruvu along with several students from the University of Campinas. During their stay, they conducted a number of activities for the community about nature and beekeeping of native, stingless bees. The highlight was a beehive painting activity, where kids and teenagers could paint the houses that will later be used to house native jataí bees. The kids had a lot of fun with this event and it helped many of them get more interested in beekeeping as a family activity.
Coming up in exactly two weeks is the Little by Little fundraising campaign. Starting Tuesday, March 25th (mark your calendars!), all your donations of $10-$50 will be matched at 50%! That means that a $10 donation becomes a $15 donation, and a $50 donation becomes a $75 donation! Funding for this project runs out this year, so all new donations help us to continue working with this great community in 2026. I hope you'll be able to contribute some spare change during this campaign!
With gratitude,
Lev
