Who are these kids?!
Selling honey is going great. Check! Eco-tourism bee farm visits, up and running. Check!
What do they do for the rest of the week?
Jeremias and Edwin have day jobs. Edwin runs a small shop and Jeremias works on his father's land growing corn and coffee. In the evenings they get together with a couple other 'bee boys' and jam out.
Last year they were working on Tz'utujil hip hop and reggae tunes, now they are working on some alternative rock songs - all of their songs are written in their indiginous language and discuss cultural values and way-of-life as small scale farmers. And they have a strong local following!
With a bit more practice and planning, we hope to get them time on stage in the region's most popular live music settings.
Good to know the art scene is thriving along with sustainable agriculture thanks to San Pablo's active youth!
