Dear friends,
Today we would like to share with you some of the achievements that we are pursuing beyond children's education.
As you may know, Jordan is struggling to maintain social and economic stability; over 80% of the urban refugee population remains below the national poverty line of ($100) per capita per month. As a result of large and protracted displacement crises, refugees are at heightened risk of depletion of resources, exploitation, lack of livelihood opportunities as well as increased levels of violence. Access to sustainable sources of income continues to be a challenge for refugees in Jordan.
We went back to school a few weeks ago. This is an opportunity not only to provide education to children but also to implement activities with their families. Through capacity building, training, and community-based initiatives, we intend to provide opportunities for refugees and vulnerable Jordanians to strengthen their livelihood base. We pay particular attention to small, micro, and home-based businesses as they allow women and the youth to integrate into the labor market. We also give support to those who have initiated activities, such as the 16 micro home-based businesses that are already producing accessories, diapers, sewing and embroidery.
Thank you for you support! You are helping a whole community through children´s education.
