This project addresses both urgent needs and long-term challenges faced by 9000 urban refugees and vulnerable host community members in Amman, empowering them to defend their rights and dignity, proposing an integrated nexus approach. It aims to promote the resilience of individuals affected by the protracted displacement crisis in Jordan and the current crisis in Gaza, through capacity building, education, training, and community-based activities, as well as awareness raising.
We aim to solve socio-economic vulnerability and marginalisation in Jordan, worsened by the refugee crisis, high unemployment, gender disparities, poor education, and climate change. Furthermore, Gaza faces severe nutrictional challenges due to conflict, displacement, and limited resources. Despite support efforts, access constraints hinder effective service delivery. Since mid-January, 93,409 children have been screened for malnutrition, with 7,280 diagnosed with acute malnutrition.
We assist vulnerable communities and refugees with cash for food, rent, education, and health via vouchers. Our education program serves 500 Iraqi and Syrian children in Al Hashmi Al Shamali and Marka, providing free education, transportation, uniforms, stationery, and books. We distribute winter aid, hygiene kits, and empower women and youth through training and activities. We address gender inequalities and Gender Based Violence, and support the transformation of socio-cultural norms.
We aim for individuals to have more equitable access to and control over social and economic resources, opportunities, and rights necessary to be lifted out of poverty. Our approach focuses on designing holistic programs to elevate the quality of life and empower vulnerable social groups towards self-sufficiency through comprehensive protection and education services. We align our work with 5 SDGs: Gender Equality, Quality Education, Economic Justice, Humanitarian Assistance, and Climate Change.
