You are receiving this Project Report since you are a current supporter of the MindLeaps GlobalGiving Program: “Help 250 Youth Recover from Ebola in Guinea.”
Celebrating Our Achievement!
On Saturday, October 8th, MindLeaps Guinea will celebrate a milestone in our Kindia program with a public celebration for the community. The program has now been running for 7+ months following our re-opening after the Ebola crisis.
During these months, 50 youth have attended our program 4 days/week:
- 112 hours of dance instruction (to attract youth to the program)
- 5,600 rice meals provided
- 112 hours of English language instruction (directly leading to youth employment opportunities)
During our presentation on October 8th, 30 of the youth will present traditional and contemporary dances, drama skits in English and speeches about the impact of the program and their desire to return to school.
We are so thankful that you have helped us to achieve this impact on 50 youth and their families!
What’s Next?
Our goal is to serve 250 youth – not 50 youth. Following October 8th, we will recruit a new group of 50 youth to begin the same program and plan to achieve the same results.
We have also been fortunate to attract the interest of another organization called The Sharing Fund. This Fund is supported by Riverside Church in NYC. The Fund will allow us to provide support to this next group of vulnerable youth in Kindia.
We are also starting an effort to raise funds to support boarding school scholarships for 10 of the top youth graduating from each cohort of our program in Kindia. This can ensure that those who are still struggling to attend school but have demonstrated their passion and dedication to education will not be lost back to the street. We look forward to sharing the details of this effort with you in our December campaign season.
Thank you – Merci!
We’ve reached 20% of our goal! We wish you could be with us for our celebration on October 8th in Guinea. Please look for the photos and videos on our social media!
