Year round WeForest and its local partner in the Khasi Hills work hard to restore degraded forests for and with the help of the tribal communities. Occassionally, we take a step back to check if what we are doing is working. In other words: monitoring & evaluation.
Our planting reports give an update on the ecological and socioeconomic impact of reforestation. It answers questions like: How many trees have been planted? How many tree species? What is the survival rate? Do people benefit from the tree planting? How much CO2 is sequestered? These answers are an indication of the project's success.
Attached is the planting report for the WeForest project in India. It is a big report, because we have a lot to share. A very short summary
- 1500 hectares of forest under restoration
- planting of 40 different tree species
- 132 community tree nurseries
- 1607 people directly engaged
