Dear Supporters of Mountain Seed Foundation,
We’re delighted to share recent updates from our healing programs supporting families affected by war. Your generosity continues to make this vital work possible.
Healing Base Camp Kaprun, Austria 2025
This August, we successfully hosted two weeks of Healing Base Camp in Kaprun, Austria, welcoming 29 Ukrainian veterans and their families.
During the first week, we focused on injured veterans, including four participants with leg amputations — all of whom successfully completed their climbs with the help of our guides and therapists. Their courage was nothing short of inspiring.
The second week brought together former prisoners of war (POWs) and their families — a new and deeply meaningful group for us. Though the week began with hesitation and emotional weight, by the end, families left with renewed hope, stronger bonds, and practical tools to help them navigate life after trauma.
Healing Base Camp Kaprun remains our flagship program, held each August to support Ukrainian families on their journey toward healing and resilience.
Healing Base Camp Cyprus 2025
This summer, we also hosted our first Healing Base Camp for Israeli widows and their children in Cyprus. These women lost their husbands in the tragic attacks of October 7.
While many had attended short retreats before, this was the first experience designed specifically for them to focus on mental health, emotional recovery, and rebuilding resilience together as families.
The success of this program confirmed that our model can bring healing to families from many different regions affected by war. We are now in the planning stages for a similar camp for Palestinian refugee families, and we are currently seeking funding to make this possible.
Healing Base Camp Ukraine
Our Ukrainian-based program has been running continuously since May and is now fully operational year-round.
Each month, our local team of therapists, mountain guides, and support staff welcomes around 30 families to participate in the weeklong program. Since opening, over 200 participants have taken part — including, most recently, a group of former POWs and their families.
This program has become a cornerstone of healing and community for families who continue to live through the realities of war.
Mini Base Camps
In addition to our main camps, we operate three Mini Base Camp programs across Ukraine. These sessions offer free indoor climbing for military children, while their mothers participate in group therapy or art healing sessions with on-site psychologists.
These smaller, ongoing programs help families sustain the tools and confidence they gained at Healing Base Camp. We are currently preparing to open a fourth Mini Base Camp location in the coming weeks.
Your support makes all of this possible. Every donation helps families rediscover their strength and hope after unimaginable loss.
Please continue sharing our work with your networks so we can reach more families in need of healing.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Mountain Seed Foundation Team
