Within the context of health promotion and disease prevention in children and adolescents of Hogar Bambi Venezuela, with the support of different specialists (pediatrician, dermatologist, gastroenterologist, orthopedic surgeon, and general surgeons) we developed a campaign called “Jornada de Medicina amor Venezuela” (Medicine Day love Venezuela) where the doctors performed the necessary medical checkup to the children at the institution.
They performed healthy child consultation and specialized follow up consultations to those children who had any disease and were under medical treatment. Also, lab tests for follow up, and the immunizations for children were reinforced with the vaccines suggested by the Venezuelan Society of Pediatrics and Childcare and also those in the National Immunizations System, achieving 2 to 3 vaccines for the children during the year according to the immunogens. Additionally, the health staff attending babies was vaccinated against pertussis and influenza virus in order to minimize the risks.
As the closing balance of the year 2019, we achieve an improvement in the medical supplies requested/received to attend the children’s diseases, and in this way, we could maintain the good health in the houses.
For all of the above, we reaffirm our gratitude for all the support received that contributes to the wellbeing of the 120 children and adolescents sheltered at Hogar Bambi Venezuela.
