For 9-year-old Anderson, his school had become a blurry blackboard, with no letters or numbers to catch his attention due to a vision problem.
Anderson's visual problem was discovered during one of the community visits made by Clínica Verde to a public school in the department of Boaco. The Clinica Verde team makes such trips to schools regularly to provide screenings for students and teachers, and help those who need eyeglasses get the right prescription.
"One of the child's eyes wanders all the time, and it is difficult for him to see the letters in his notebook," said Anderson’s grandfather, who accompanied him for the screening. "That's why I want doctors to review it. So that he can see his studies."
A more in-depth visual examination was later done at Clinica Verde to confirm a diagnosis. That exam revealed a refractive problem, which required permanent lenses. The team donated glasses to Anderson, so that the school once again could become a place of games and learning for the young boy.
It’s such a privilege to be able to provide the gift of sight to the wonderful communities Clinica Verde serves. Thank you for helping to support this good work.
