KATE'S INSPIRING JOURNEY THROUGH BREAST CANCER

By Anthonia Uche Umeh | Project Leader

Kate, a breast cancer survivor
Kate, a breast cancer survivor

Kate's journey through breast cancer is truly inspiring. A resident of Amichi Town in Nnewi South Local Government Area, Anambra State, Nigeria, Kate underwent a Right breast Mastectomy, Chemotherapy and Hormonal therapy following the diagnosis of Right breast invasive ductal carcinoma in 2014.

In July 2025, Kate's battle took a challenging turn when investigations at Lister Adeniyi Amole Healthcare, Lagos revealed a recurrence of Metastatic Breast Cancer. Urgent Oncology review and treatments were scheduled, highlighting the ongoing struggles faced by cancer patients.

Despite financial constraints, Kate's resilience shone brightly. Seeking assistance, she turned to the ASA Women USA, Inc. Executive Board, whose timely financial support made a significant difference in her journey.

Kate's story emphasizes the crucial role organizations like ASA Women USA, Inc. Cancer Coalition play in supporting women through their cancer battles. Their assistance not only aids patients like Kate but also contributes to improving healthcare access and addressing maternal health challenges in Anambra State, Nigeria and the Nation at Large.

The Legacy Project on Healthcare Access to Indigent Women in Nigeria, championed by ASA Women USA, Inc., serves as a beacon of hope for those on similar paths to recovery, offering care and support where it's needed most.

Together, Let's stand united in the fight against cancer, uplifting lives and spreading awareness.
