Bargaun Health Post Dedication

By Anna McPherson | Project Leader

Dedication ceremony
Dedication ceremony

Dear Friend,

In memory of the late Tony Sharpe, we have dedicated the Bargaun health post in his name.

A granite plaque has been hung on the side of the health post, including logos for the Nepal Trust, Nepal Development Foundation (NDF) and the government, aswell as a picture of Tony has been encapsulated.  This is official as it includes the government logo.

The Board feel this is a fitting dedication in memory of Tony's hard work and commitment to fundraising for many years for the Nepal Trust.

The healthcare and education in the hidden Himalayas project provides basic healthcare & education in the least developed area of Nepal. There are no roads in Humla and the government health system is dysfunctional. Maternal and child mortality rates are among the highest in the world (<30%). More than 50,000 people live in the district. The project is integrated with education, food security, WASH, renewable energy and income generation projects to promote a healthier lifestyle and a secure future for, particularly, women and children.

Our Agreement in partnership with the NDP and Self Help Initiative Promotion Centre-Nepal (SHIP) will see the following tasks carried out:

1. Support operation of health posts and birthing centres

2. Training and awareness for healthcare workers

3. Education and awareness calsses for school students - Little Doctors Programme

4. Renovation support and furniture for local schools.
