Thanks to your support, we have managed to stop the malaria epidemic that was ravaging the indigenous community of Pirmaken in the state of Bolívar.
The entire population of the community, more than 100 people, fell ill with malaria. Thanks to the shipment of anti-malarial medicines, we ensured that there were no fatalities in the community.
On the other hand, in our constant trips to the territory of the Huottöja people, in the state of Amazonas, the presence of albinos began to draw our attention.
Albino people always suffer from skin problems, many burns due to the intense Amazonian sun, and eye diseases.
Being such a vulnerable population, and seeing that there is a high number of individuals who suffer from this condition within the Huottöja people, Dr. Alberto Piamo has begun research on the subject in the smallest municipality of the Amazonas state in Venezuela, Atures.
In the Atures Municipality alone there are 16 albino huottöja people and all of them have serious eye problems that include poor vision.
At the end of this month of July we will organize a visit from an ophthalmologist to help them.
