The summer heat has finally broken, and monsoon season brought its own set of challenges — but also some wonderful stories of families finding their footing again. Keep reading for updates on two families we've walked alongside for years, our monsoon health seminars, and the latest on our new clinic!

After months battling severe anemia and acute gastritis, 15-year-old Kavita needed a hospital admission and two blood transfusions just to stabilize. But her illness was tangled up with a harder story — her family had lost their father years earlier, leaving her mother to support three daughters alone as a domestic cleaner.
Alongside Kavita's treatment, we gave the family a sewing machine so she and her mother could learn tailoring and earn income from home. Her hemoglobin has climbed from 7.5 to 10.5 g/dL, and the family now has a way to support themselves beyond medical care.
Ten years ago, Sunita's family was shattered — her father lost to cancer, her brother killed in an accident, both grandparents gone within months. Her mother Kamla fell into depression, and the family had nothing left. A sewing machine and some encouragement gave Sunita a way to start rebuilding.
This year, Sunita walked back into our clinic — not as a struggling teenager, but as a mother bringing her own baby girl in for a checkup. It's a reminder of why we do this work: one generation finding hope, and the next beginning life already carrying it.
Monsoon season brings relief from the heat, but it also brings malaria, dengue, chikungunya, and typhoid as mosquitoes breed in standing water. Our team has been running seminars across Jaipur's communities teaching children simple prevention steps — like emptying water from coolers and clearing rooftops — and, as always, those children carry the lessons home to their families.
