On October 21, the hearing health tour #21 took place at the Victoria D Spinay School, in the neighboring province of Panama West.
On these hearing health tours we take free hearing tests, in rural and indigenous areas, where the first hearing examination in the lives of the children is often performed.
In the coordination, preparation and execution of all this work, there are more than 1000 volunteer hours between ONGs, groups of social works and companies. This tour was especially relevant because there were 33 cases of children who failed the test were recorded. This represented 16.9% of the total number of cases evaluated, which represents a high number for this type of activity.
As usual, these 33 cases were cited to repeat the test in our clinic, with better conditions to determine if there are hearing problems that require further follow-up. The importance of this task is that, not only helps to capture situations of hearing loss at an early age, but that it directly impacts communities, generating awareness and a climate of mutual support around the issue of hearing health.
In the new year we will continue to prepare more of these tours and we will be informing you of the results that we will continue to have thanks to them.
