Project Background
North Kivu, in eastern DR Congo, has endured years of armed conflict, resulting in the displacement of over 600,000 people. Among them, women and adolescent girls are the most affected, living in precarious conditions without access to basic menstrual health resources.
In the camps, girls face severe menstrual health challenges: lack of sanitary products, unsafe facilities, and social stigma around menstruation. Many are forced to use unsafe alternatives such as dirty cloth, paper, or leaves—leading to increased risks of infection and undermining their dignity.
