At the end of each school year, we are sad to part with our EarthKeepers, and hope we get to connect with them again. So we were delighted to see some students we worked with come to various camps we offered this summer! Because you are dedicated to supporting us, these kids were able to build such a positive connection to nature. They were eager to build on those connections since we weren't at their schools last year, or for Forest View students, waiting for the school year to start up again in to order to spend time with us outside. They had a blast!
Miriam told me that, “It has been so fun to be with Lauren, our counselor from Earth Keepers at Forest View, and see snakes, play in creeks, and do so many art projects using materials in nature. We cannot wait to do this at school too.” Your support has had a deep reaching effect on students. Griffin moved onto middle school a year ago, but was a Forest View Earth Keeper for several seasons. He said,”I love being outside and getting to explore the swamp which we didn’t have at Forest View, and I don’t have a chance to do in middle school. I still get outside to find birds and other animals when I am at home.”
Former Earth Keeper participants from schools where we used to hold our program also continue to add to their nature knowledge at our camps. Leila was an EarthKeepers from Creekside Elementary school. Thomas was from Southwest Elementary. They hope we can bring Earth Keepers back to their schools. They learned more about tracking, explored creeks and found insects that aren’t around during the school year. All are so grateful that your donations allowed them to become comfortable, confident, and knowledgeable in the outdoors. They continue to find ways to connect with nature, increase their knowledge and share with others, and seem so happy. Thank you for providing this wonderful opportunity! We cannot wait to reach more kids this coming school year and share more success stories.
