A New Year for Earth Keepers!

By Peter Josten | After School Coordinator

We're excited for another year of the Earth Keepers after school program! A lot has happened since our last update, so we'll fill you in:

At Forest View and Carrboro, we finished the 2019 year in style. In our final session, we played a game of Rainbow Tag - where the kids work together to find all the colors hidden in the forest and defeat the dreaded color trolls! This game is wonderful for bringing kids together: Two of our campers, Rina and Elodie, started the session in an argument, but wasn't too long until they were running through the forest together shouting, "has anyone found blue?? We need to find blue!"

At Southwest, the highlight of 2019 was seven sticks. A "capture the flag" style game with a hidden objective. The game was massive, spanning the whole forest behind the elementary school and taking two days to finish!

Thanks to your generous donations, we are able to offer a free introductory program at A.L. Stanback Middle School. This allows us to share our program with students and families that normally wouldn't have access to outdoor education resources.

With your continued support, we can offer scholarships and affordable programs in new locations to encourage more campers to explore nature.

Thank you so much for your belief if our cause! You donations make a wonderful impact.
