It's Never Been a Better Time to Get Kids Outdoors

This time last year, we were taking an easy month, resting, and preparing for our spring and summer programs. Many things have changed since then, and right now we're bustling to prepare for our winter afterschool programming that starts at the end of this month. Part of us misses the slow days of January, but a larger part is excited to get more kids outside and adventuring!

A particularly fun aspect of camp these days is spending time outdoors in the winter. Kids notice the changes in the environment as they re-visit some of the favorite spots and discover that it's harder to play hiding games where there isn't as much understory vegetation. Campers also appreciate the fire building knowledge they have collected over the last few months - both for warmth, and s'mores!

More families than ever are looking for afterschool opportunities. We've been fortunate enough to be able to offer scholarships to a few families, but many more are still looking for outdoor afterschool. Our waitlists are longer than ever and we need your help to fund scholarships, buy equipment, and pay quality staff to help run our programs.

We are so grateful for all the love and support you provide.

Best,

The Piedmont Widlife Center Team
