Child Abuse Preventive Education Program: A Comprehensive Report
Initial Program
On May 9, 2024, The Elite Star Foundation launched a pivotal Child Abuse Preventive Education Program at Government Day Secondary School Diko in Niger State, Nigeria. This initiative was designed to address the critical issue of child abuse by empowering students and staff with essential knowledge and skills.
Program Objectives
1. Educate participants on recognizing signs of child abuse
2. Provide strategies for preventing child abuse
3. Equip attendees with appropriate response mechanisms when abuse is suspected or disclosed
Follow-up and Expansion
Since the initial program in May, The Elite Star Foundation has maintained a strong commitment to the cause, implementing a multi-faceted approach to ensure lasting impact:
Ongoing Support at Government Day Secondary School Diko
- Regular check-ins with students to monitor their well-being
- Confidential counseling services for those in need
- Periodic refresher sessions on abuse prevention strategies
Community Outreach
The foundation expanded its efforts beyond the initial school, reaching out to other communities in Niger State. This expansion included:
1. Adult Education Programs
2. Children's Programs in New Communities
Impact Assessment
- Surveys conducted to measure changes in awareness and attitudes towards child abuse
- Collection of testimonials from program participants
- Tracking of reporting rates and response effectiveness in partner communities
Future Plans
The Elite Star Foundation is committed to expanding this vital program further:
1. Develop a comprehensive curriculum for schools across Niger State
2. Create a digital platform for remote learning and support
