Basil the Domestic Rabbit at a Program
Hi Friends!
It's a new year with even more Animal Programs! Piedmont Wildlife Center’s Creature Teachers and Wildlife Ambassadors have been hard at work visiting schools and teaching kids about native wildlife. An Animal Program features five to six Wildlife Ambassadors, providing education about their natural history, including predator-prey interactions, diet, habitat, adaptations, and conservation practices. These programs provide an opportunity for kids to connect with the natural world in ways they may not have otherwise had access to. The children of Title 1 schools are especially disadvantaged in accessing these educational experiences, as many facilities require entrance fees.
Piedmont Wildlife Center is seeking to address this challenge through subsidized programs for Title 1 schools. This can only be possible with the help of our supporters. Through your generous support and $9,500 from our Giving Tuesday campaign, we have been able to offer 20 at-school programs completely free to Title 1 schools in our area! While this is a great achievement, we still have work to do to continue connecting local kids with the natural world. With your help, we can expand our reach to be able to offer even more free program opportunities!
Thank you for your continued support!
