A FOCUS ON THE LEADERSHIP OF KRU (teacher) NAT.
Since just after the S.E. Asian tsunami devastated the Phang Nga Thailand region on December 2004, Step Ahead has served in this area in Southern Thailand.
One of the most fantastic reasons we have been able to serve so many vulnerable children and families is our longest-standing staff member - Kru (Teacher) Nat. She originally worked as a head teacher of one of the Step Ahead four (CDCs) Child Development Centers. Later she led and mentored all the teachers in these schools. Still later, she led the Southern Thailand Step Ahead Training Center. And, finally, today she continues to develop and lead the Keeping Families Together (KFT) programs, mentoring our staff and volunteers in Khao Lak. Through most of these years, she was also a foster mother doing kinship care for her nephew who is now finished university.
At Step Ahead, we understand without Kru Nat's unfailing care and service to hundreds of children and families, the development of families and communities would never have been sustained.
