Step Ahead Training
To Step Ahead Again With In-Person Training as Thailand Re-opens.
Last week Step Ahead delivered training to 24 community leaders and pastors in caring for orphans and vulnerable children and their families. They are learning how to use our Keeping Families Together Curriculum Toolkit. Now they are more prepared to reach out to their local communities and care for the vulnerable families there.
Meanwhile, we trained 30 Government leaders and NGO staff working in child trafficking on Trauma-Informed Care. It was a powerful week. Safeguarding children is the job of all government local leaders, social workers, prosecutors, judges, and lawyers.
In June we look forward to training 30 more local community leaders/Thai Pastors on how to use our Keeping Families Together curriculum.
Step Ahead is honored to serve on the committee to draft the foster care legislation. We are grateful to have a social worker/therapist on our team named Deneen, who worked for the Colorado government in foster care and adoption for 20 years before coming to Thailand. She is a gift.
We were also asked last year to help draft the Alternative Care policy for the Thai government. Alternative Care is the care for children living separated from their biological parents. The policy was announced officially to 500 senior government officials last November 20th. Now we stand together and hope to see that the policies will actually be implemented!
