Dear Donors,
We sincerely thank the donors who have already supported the Help 521 Displaced Women Exit Sex Work in Abuja project. Your generosity reflects compassion for women facing extreme hardship. However, the donations received so far are not sufficient to begin full implementation. Additional support is required to move forward.
Hundreds of displaced women living in camps around Abuja fled violent attacks in their home communities. With no stable income, limited shelter, and little access to formal employment, many turned to sex work as a means of survival. This exposes them to daily risks including violence, exploitation, sexually transmitted infections, and emotional trauma.
Without practical alternatives, these women remain trapped in unsafe conditions. Many are mothers struggling to feed their children. Lack of vocational skills, startup capital, and secure housing makes it difficult to leave survival sex work behind.
This project will provide safe temporary shelter, basic living supplies, and access to healthcare services. Each participant will receive a small business kit and practical skills training to begin earning income through safer means. Follow-up support will help women transition gradually and maintain stability. The project will also connect participants to trusted local services for continued assistance.
Providing economic alternatives can reduce exposure to abuse and health risks. Women who gain safer income sources are more likely to build stable lives for themselves and their children. Support services will help them regain dignity and reduce dependency on high-risk survival strategies.
Although initial donations have been received, more funding is needed before shelter arrangements, training sessions, and distribution of business kits can begin. We kindly invite additional donors to support this effort and help 521 displaced women move toward safer and more secure livelihoods.
Sincerely,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
