The future of children and young people depends on what they have in their minds and what they can create with their hands.
The Limyè Lavi Foundation, while continuing to train and mentor parents and community leaders to better support children and young people, organizes training sessions for children and young people to help them discover and develop their talents. From September 22nd to 26th, it organized a week-long training course in beadwork and macrame for members of the children's club in the Taluy community (Fond Jean Noël communal section, Marigot-Jamel, Haiti). Forty-seven (47) children/young people and seven (7) leaders participated in the training, led by artisan Deralus. They learned to make, among other things, jewelry and suitcases.
Some of them are beginning to receive requests from community members to make items for them. New opportunities are beginning to open up for these young people/children. With their own two hands, they can start building a small economy.
A production workshop has been set up in the community to allow the young people/children to continue producing. A close relationship will be established between the trainer and the workshop managers to find markets for the items produced.
