Dear supporters,
We at Teach For Bulgaria started the new school year with excitement for what’s to come. This feeling was echoed by schools from all over Bulgaria, who welcomed back their students on the 15th of September. “Teachers, don’t forget that your profession is more than a job; it’s a mission,” said the principal of one of our partner schools as part of her welcoming speech during the first day of school celebration.
Indeed, teaching is a mission - a mission of guiding future generations, a mission of inspiring curiosity, and a mission that requires dedication.
Over the summer break, teachers from the new cohort of our Model Schools program were immersed in training sessions on how to create a safe and welcoming school environment where students can thrive, how to use data to make informed decisions for their school’s development, and how to collaborate with each other effectively.
One of the unforgettable experiences from the summer training was undoubtedly a workshop on inclusion and community building, where program participants met with representatives from different organizations that work with vulnerable groups. Throughout the workshop and the following presentations, teachers explored what creating a supportive school environment really means and put the student at the center of the learning process.
At the end of the four-day training, the program participants left Tryavna feeling inspired to take action, work together, reflect on their experience, and find meaningful ways to engage their students.
Thank you for choosing to support our cause and our work of making quality education available for every child in Bulgaria!
Gratefully,
The Teach For Bulgaria team
