Dear supporters,
Happy New Year! May 2024 bring you lots of health, happiness, and prosperity.
We are thrilled to share with you the story of an innovative educational practice that teachers at the Professional Gymnasium for Audio-Video and Telecommunication “A.S. Popov” in Sofia implemented. This initiative is inspired by the training they received in TFB's Model Schools program and is transforming traditional teaching methods by creating an engaging and dynamic learning environment for students.
Two of the teachers, Nadya and Maria, teamed up and planned an interdisciplinary lesson combining History and Philosophy for students in the 10th grade. The lesson, themed around the topic of the Second World War, involved interactive group activities and discussions that encouraged critical thinking and collaboration among students from two classes. This method not only aligns with the school's long-term goals of improving student motivation and engagement but also fosters a strong community spirit. The impact can be clearly seen in the students’ enthusiasm during and after the lesson, marking a departure from conventional classroom dynamics typically associated with vocational schools.
“By putting the students in a different learning environment and in the center as the main drivers of the learning process, they were initially surprised and less motivated, but during the lesson and at the end, they were active, motivated, and satisfied. Their desire for future collaborative lessons was strengthened," shared Nadia and Maria after the lesson.
Progressive educational strategies such as this enhance the learning experience and prepare students with valuable skills for the future. This initiative represents just one of the many steps the school team is taking toward providing contemporary, high-quality education for its students.
Your support is instrumental in this transformative process, and we look forward to continuing this journey together. Thank you for your continued support of our cause!
Sincerely,
The Teach For Bulgaria Team
