Meet Cohort 2025-2027 of Model Schools

By Denitza Manova | Development and Fundraising Specialist

Dear supporters,

We are very pleased to share with you the news that 45 new schools from across Bulgaria will be joining the Model Schools program as part of Cohort 2025-2027 - this is the largest cohort of schools to date. The teams will start their two-year journey towards whole school transformation this summer.

The schools in the new cohort are diverse in profile, with 21 primary schools, 14 secondary schools, as well as vocational high schools and combined schools. The schools are located in 34 different cities, towns and villages, with Sofia, Burgas and Varna regions leading the way with the highest number of new schools per region.

‍More than 470 teachers and principals will participate in the two-year program, which will introduce them to proven successful teaching practices from classrooms. The focus is on collaboration, teamwork, and creating an engaging learning environment.

‍We will reach 17 000 students with the schools that are joining the program in 2027. The largest school that is joining the program is the Vasil Levski Secondary School in Ruse, with 1300 students. On the other end, the smallest school to join the new cohort is the St Clement Primary School in the village of Yuper, Razgrad region, with 48 students.

"The high level of interest in the program and the positive results we see in the schools that have completed it show us that the training provides real and applicable solutions to challenges in the classroom. We are looking forward to the start of the new class in July, when we will all get together for the first time," said Ivelina Pashova, program team leader at Teach For Bulgaria.

In addition to the new cohort of schools, 2025 marks another occasion for celebration at Teach For Bulgaria - our 15-year anniversary. With your support, over the past 15 years, we have been able to support over 2200 teachers and principals from 424 schools nationwide and change the lives of many students. Read their stories in the special anniversary report linked below.

Thank you for your support!

Gratefully,
The Teach For Bulgaria team
