This project will provide clean water and hygiene facilities to neglected North Central states in Nigeria-Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, and Plateau. Within six years, by 2030, we aim to reach about one million people. The project will fund solar-powered and manual boreholes, gender-separated toilets, water storage tanks, and menstrual hygiene training. It will also promote WASH-friendly schools and train children on good handwashing habits.
Many families and schools in Nigeria's North Central region still depend on unsafe water sources. Children walk long distances daily to fetch water, while poor sanitation facilities expose girls to health and safety risks. Lack of toilets, handwashing stations, and menstrual hygiene education keeps many children out of school. These problems lead to frequent illness, poor attendance, and deepened poverty among rural and undeserved communities.
This project will install solar-powered and hand-pump boreholes in schools and villages to ensure steady access to clean water. We will build gender-separated toilets, provide menstrual hygiene education, and supply sanitary pads. Children will be trained in good handwashing habits, and teachers will learn to make schools WASH-friendly through hygiene workshops. These actions will improve health, school attendance, and daily life in rural communities.
By 2030, about one million people will have improved access to safe water and sanitation in the targeted states. Children will enjoy cleaner learning environments, better hygiene, and fewer illnesses. Girls will stay in school during their menstrual periods, while families will have access to reliable water sources. The project will create long-term community ownership through training, ensuring that water and sanitation systems are maintained for future generations.
