Help a Poor HIV+ Orphan to Survive in Nigeria

Dear Donor,

We want to greatly appreciate you for your generous donation to support our project and for your patience in waiting to receive our project report.

We're still very much engaged with this project and have gotten the details of the beneficiaries and also communicated with them. In our last report, we indicated that we'll carry out this project and submit it's report before the end of this February, but that didn't work out for us as we planned and the reason behind this is because of the change in the monetary policy of our country which is affecting everyone, especially the poor.

The Presidential and National Assembly (Senate and House of Representatives) elections took place on Saturday (February 25, 2023), while that of the Governorship and State Houses Assembly is still coming up on March 11. The Nigerian government did everything possible as they said, to prevent vote buying in order to make sure that the elections are free and fair.

Consequently, new naira notes of 200, 500 and 1,000 were redesigned last year and a deadline of January 31, 2023, given for the old notes to be returned. These new notes are not even in circulation as they should. It is believed that the redesigning of the naira notes was done to make everyone, especially the politicians who are keeping huge amounts of money in their houses, to return them. Daily withdrawal limit for the new notes are kept at 10,000 naira (about $20) and to even make a withdrawal is very difficult, as the banks are so much crowded.

Though some of us that voted during the election, noticed that some of the politicians and their canvassers resorted to other means, like promising the electorates that they'll transfer money to them, as they collected their account details and phone numbers after voting while others were sharing gifts like wrapper, in other to garner votes.

We hope that after all these elections, the government will amend this situation so that everything will become normal again and everybody will be able to withdraw as much money that they need from the banks as before.

We're deeply grateful for your generous donation to support our project. Our prayer is that blessings will never cease in your life and that all your heart desires will be granted unto you.

This project was intended to support Jane, who's a poor girl orphan living with HIV and residing in Aba, Abia State. Because Jane is not residing in Anambra State where our organization domiciles, we reach out to her through a caregiver whom we communicate with.

As this project will go a long way in supporting Jane, we decided that we'll visit her to meet with her, know how she's doing and be sure that the support we're given to her is actually reaching her.

When we asked for Jane's phone number, the caregiver was reluctant to give it to us and when we finally got the number and started communicating with her, she wasn't enthusiastic about seeing us, even when we've supported her twice. This made us keep wondering if the person we're communicating with is Jane who's supposed to be the beneficiary of this project.

In order not to make mistakes and be supporting the wrong person, we've decided to select three poor orphans living with HIV in Nnewi-Anambra State, where our organization domiciles and we've met with the HIV Case Managers across the HIV clinics in Nnewi for that. This will enable us to be sure that the beneficiaries of this project are the real people who deserves it.

We will be sending another report before the end of next month (February), after we must have executed this project, including pictures of the beneficiaries alongside our team, so you can see the impact of your generous donation.
