We are delighted to share a seasonal update from our beloved HERD and let you know how our elephants are doing.
As winter settles in, one of the elephants’ favourite treats makes its appearance, the fruit of the Green Thorn tree. This time of year, the elephants gather beneath these trees, using their trunks to shake the branches and release the tasty fruits. It’s quite a sight to see them huddled together under the tree, enjoying this natural snack! Fishan, with his impressive height, takes full advantage, reaching high for the twigs and fruit that others can’t quite get to.

The waterhole remains a much-loved spot for the herd. It’s where they splash, swim, and enjoy refreshing mud baths. Fishan especially finds comfort in the mud, which helps ease the discomfort in his leg. Watching him relax and play with mud is always heartwarming.
We’re happy to report that all the elephants are in excellent health and spirits. Our four wise fathers of the HERD, Sebakwe, Jabulani, Fishan, and Somopane, continue to lead with strength and calm. On 15 June, we joined with the rest of South Africa in celebrating Father’s Day, a perfect moment to honor these magnificent role models within the herd.
