This Past Week at Lanta Animal Welfare
So many rescue animals have been brought to our clinic these past few weeks. The clinic is super busy with vaccinations, sterilizations and so many animals being treated for the tick and parasite skin diseases that plague the animals in this tropical heat, especially now during the rainy season.
Kittens, Kittens and More Kittens
This week can be renamed to Dump Kitten Week. Sounds cute, but it isn't. Over 15 very young kittens were dumped this past week. They came in bags, boxes and just left on the road near our clinic.
The frightened kittens are way too young to be away from their Mom. They needed to be placed in our isolation unit and receive special care. This includes being fed with an eye dropper, kept warm, and getting lots of hugs. These kittens can't join the cat population until they are much older and have had all their vaccinations.
Puppies, Puppies and More Puppies
Over 9 darling puppies have been dumped with us the past week, that makes 19 in the past 3 weeks! They were either saved from poisoning, rescued from trash dumps, abandoned in the forest or left at our door. Would you love a new addition to your family? Let us know if you can fall in love with a puppy, and we'll get your new family member to you.
Delilah’s Rescue
A few months ago we rescued a young dog who had a horrid cancer growth in her genitals. She was in terrible pain and seriously frightened from the long ride in a rickety down truck. After weeks of chemo treatment and being kept in isolation away from the other dogs, Delilah has unbelievably good news, read on.
"I'm so happy to tell you all that I've had all my chemo treatments and my tumour has shrunk away. Great news right! And the tests I just had said that the cancer is gone!
Dr. Pyo tells me that I'll be going home. I can't wait to be back at the Hot Springs with all my buddies. Won't they be happy to see me, I'm sure most thought I'd be dead by now. But here I am, alive and cured!”
Last week Delilah was returned to the Hot Springs, where we rescued her.
