Some moments pass quietly, and others mark an important milestone. This year, Lanta Animal Welfare reaches 20 years of rescues, adoptions, surgeries, vaccinations, and tender moments with animals who might not have had a chance otherwise.
In that time, we have found loving homes for around 1,250 animals and sterilized nearly 75,000 more, preventing suffering on a huge scale. It is an achievement to be proud of, but it is also just the beginning. We are looking ahead to ensure LAW continues to thrive for decades to come.
When I think back to where we began, with only a dream to ease suffering, it is almost impossible to believe how far we have come. But the truth is, none of it would have been possible without you: our friends, donors, and sponsors who have stood by our side through storms, sunshine, and everything in between.
As we pause to reflect on this milestone, I would love to share a few updates from Koh Lanta and beyond.
Shaping the Next 20 Years: Join Our Board
Lanta Animal Welfare has come so far, but to keep growing and thriving for decades to come, we’re expanding our USA Board of Directors.
We’re looking for passionate supporters with a mix of skills in fundraising, finance, marketing, board leadership, and community building. Among these roles, we have a particular need for a dedicated Treasurer to help strengthen our sustainability and guide LAW’s future.
Board members play a vital role in shaping our strategy, supporting long-term growth, and ensuring LAW continues to change lives for years to come.

Why Sponsorship Matters: Meet Westlyn
Sponsorship has the power to change a life.
Westlyn has been with us for more than two years. She arrived at Lanta Animal Welfare with horrific burn injuries that left her in constant pain and, despite the best care, with lasting scars. Her recovery has been long and difficult, yet through it all she has shown a resilience and spirit that inspires everyone who meets her.

Sponsorship is what makes stories like Westlyn’s possible. It helps cover food, medical treatment, and the safe environment animals need to heal. It also connects people directly to that journey, with updates and emails from their chosen animal showing the difference being made day by day.
Thanks to this support, animals who have suffered so much can finally experience comfort, dignity, and love.
Expanding Our Reach: Mobile Clinics in Action
Our long-standing partnership with Welttierschutzgesellschaft (WTG) began in 2013 with a shared goal: to bring veterinary care to animals in remote areas. Since then, together we have sterilised more than 26,000 animals at mobile clinics, improving the health and wellbeing of countless communities across Thailand.
This year we returned to Ranong for the eighth time, a community-funded sterilisation clinic, where the team successfully sterilised 306 dogs in just 10 days.
A special thank you goes to Fiona, one of LAW’s long-term supporters, whose dedication and organisation made the Ranong clinics possible. Her hard work, alongside the mobile team and the local community, shows how much can be achieved when people come together for animals in need.
Sterilisation is one of the most effective ways to create lasting change. With the likes of WTG’s support, community backing, and committed supporters like Fiona, we are reaching more animals than ever before.
Here is to the next 20 years of compassion.
