Aiaru had recenty turned 6, but already she had undergone more surgeries than most adults ever would. Since January 2022, Aiaru has been fighting a malignant brain tumor,.anaplastic ependymoma, Grade III. After her diagnosis, she has undergone a total of five complex surgeries to remove the tumor. Fortunately, at this stage, the tumor has been completely removed. Aiaru is currently undergoing 30 sessions of radiation therapy, and the next stage of treatment will consist of 6 cycles of chemotherapy.
The cost of the upcoming treatment is unaffordable for Aiaru's family who took her for treatment from their native Kazakhstan to nearby Turkey. However, they are determined to continue this lifesaving treatment, as it gives Aiaru a real chance for a healthy and full life. After such a difficult path to recovery, Aiaru's family needs to afford one final but no less important stage of treatment. The medications are designed to eliminate any residual cancer cells and prevent this aggressive cancer from recurring. A targeted drug that showed promise in other patients with ependymoma will be added to the regimen as well.
We were able to offer a grant for Aiaru's medications thanks to the donations we receive through this project. Your help supports patients like Aiuru and others who have limited treatment options at home and travel abroad to access newer medications. Thank you so much for your kindness! Please consider signing up for monthly donations to ensure the patients are supported any time during the year.
Happy Fall!
